About Opening A Shop
Do not open your shops here. But here are some helpful tips when opening an art shop.
Keep in mind that this is not a solid way to make a shop. This is how I do my art shop. This doesn't mean it is the best or perfect way, it's just merely some guidelines.
Useful Groups
The Blacklist - this will ensure you stay away from already discovered art thieves and scammers. This group is private so you have to wait for approval. They have links to the website where they have their lists of scammers and art thieves though.
Artists Club - Has almost 14,000 members at the moment. Here you can open a shop, post art for critique, ask for art pricing and more!
Art Bazaar - Has almost 5,000 members at the moment. You can also open an art shop here, post art for critique, ask for art pricing and more.
Trade Feedback - A simple group where you can make one thread where people post their feedback for trading or art. This feedback can be verified by moderators. This makes it a bit more valid than diary feedback entries.
How Should I Price My Art?
There are a few key things that I have noticed:
:::The cheaper the art - the more people will buy it
:::The more expensive the art - the less people will buy it
:::You can post threads in the Artists Club or Art Bazaar to ask how much people would pay for their art
:::Basically, don't sell yourself short or you'll get tired of drawing fast. If it's hard for you to do, charge more. If it's easy for you to do, don't charge a lot.
What Kind of Information Should I Put in My Shop?
1. Art Samples - people won't buy your art unless they know what to expect. Also state if your art style changes so people won't be disappointed if they get something other than what they expected
2. Art Prices - have a set price but don't keep it solid. Allow haggling and usage of CC and Animateds. It'll be hard for people to buy art if you only allow 3 GC. So, for example, if the price is 3 GC also allow a payment of 6 CC or 1 Animated.
3. A Want List - it's easier for people to get you motivated into doing art if you provide them with a list of wants. Using THIS WEBSITE you can go through every TinierMe item and place whatever you like in your want list.
To Do That:
1. Sign Up
2. Click Browse Items - you can browse by event/gacha or by item type (hat/shirt/etc.).
3. Click an item you like
4. Click the Pink Bear "I Want This" button and it will be added to your want list! (you must be signed in to do this)
4. Slots - You should select a number of slots that you feel you have time for. Other artists usually have between 3 and 8 slots. You can have as many or as little as you like.
5. Basic Information - You should also state how long it normally takes you to finish a commission, your payment process (pay first, half/half, pay after?), and your drawing process (do you provide details on how the commission is coming along or just give them the final product only?)
That's about it! Use the ★TinierMe Basic HTML thread for details on how to post pictures and clickable links.
If you have anymore questions or details to add, please post them here.
